“Cleaner, healthier drinking water for you and your family.”
South Coast Water Purification Filters supplies and professionally installs water filtration systems and reverse osmosis systems. We pride ourselves in quality products and workmanship and after sales service. SCW Filters guarantees that after installation the system will be reasonably free of defects for 12 months. Our systems are Water Quality Association & SABS approved.
Our filtration systems use universally available replacement water filter cartridges, the filters are easily changeable. Filters last anywhere from 2 months to 3 years depending on which filter and the quality of the source water.
Our systems provide an affordable means of getting pure drinking water on par with the quality of most bottled waters at a fraction of the cost.
How Does a 5-Stage Reverse Osmosis System Work?
Reverse osmosis is the process of purifying water using membranes and pressure to remove most contaminants from your source. Reverse osmosis improves the taste and odour of your water it removes bad odour but removes all vitamins and minerals as well. The 5 stage RO system is a winner if you are looking for different tasting and pure drinking water.
Stage 1: 5 Micron Sediment Filter (Change it every 6 – 12 months)
Water first passes through a 5-micron filter to remove all the larger sediment that may be in your drinking water from dirt, old & rusted pipes and general low-quality municipal water supply. We use a 5-micron filter to get the least possible restriction in water-flow and this size provides you sufficient sediment removal and provides a longer lifespan than 1 micron filters.
Stage 2: Granule Activated Carbon Filter (Change it every 6 – 12 months)
Carbon is the most absorptive compound known to man. This absorbs organic and natural compounds that may be in your water supply, it also removes carcinogens, taste and odor compounds and synthetic chemicals and chlorine which are used in water treatment.
Stage 3: Activated Carbon Block (Change it every 6 – 12 Months)
Made from a powdered block of activated carbon, the block filter is most effective at removing even the smallest amounts of chemicals that may be in your water it removes most of the contaminants that may not have been removed by the previous stage.
Stage 4: Reverse Osmosis Membrane (Change it every 2 – 3 years)
Reverse Osmosis works by pushing water at high pressure through a membrane with microscopic holes which will filter out 98% of contaminants leaving close to pure water. These systems require sufficient pressure (40-80psi) which is normally achieved by installing a booster pump.
Stage 5: Post Carbon Filter (Change it every 3 – 5 years)
The post carbon filter is the last stage in your RO system and it will remove any remaining chemicals, bacteria or contaminants from your source. Since the water entering this filter is mostly pure, it will only need to be changed every 3-5 years.
